Adelle | Newborn Session

I’ve known this family for years now & have gotten to photograph them several times! When they asked me to come take pictures of their FIRST daughter I was thrilled! I love the pictures of this sweet girl & have to say a personal favorite is the one with the guys 😉 Yes, you read that right. You’ll know it when you see it 😉

Waterstradt | Newborn Session

This little guy was so precious & even smiling in his session! His mommy has wonderful taste when it comes to decor & I loved being in their sweet home! Also, this blog post contains one of my favorite daddy & newborn son pictures so make sure you scroll down for that one! 🙂

Harrison | Newborn Session

This is a special session to share, even though it’s over a year after it happened that I’m posting it! Little Harrison was born just 4 days after our daughter Ruth. Elyse & I shared the same pregnancy journey & were able to pray for each other & give encouragement on those days we really needed it. Plus, the Fishel Family is special to our family as we have a little supper club with them & third family.

Even though a lot has already changed since this session (ie they recently moved into a house & Harrison is one now!) the love the Fishel’s share is REAL & has not changed. I love the pride that Chuck has in his face looking at his son in these pictures. The giggles that precious big sister has & Elyse’s happy momma glow.

I remember the session I had with the Fishel’s & Elyse & Chuck shared with me that they were pregnant (you can view that HERE) & even back to when we did big sister’s newborn session (view HERE).

I can’t believe our babies are now over one & that so much has happened since the day we both told each other we were expecting. The Lord is faithful & His faithfulness is all over these photos!

Noah | Portrait Session

I think my session with Noah was one of the most fun & unique sessions I’ve had with a guy ever! His mom had informed me of the full suit, top hat & bow tie look he planned to wear & with Noah’s mom in tow, we had SUCH a blast creating a classy, almost Paris type feel for his pictures! With the spring flowers in bloom, I literally felt like we were able to transport to France for part of his session 🙂 I’m sharing just a few of my personal favorites from his session today!

Blythe’s Birth Day!

This precious girl is turning one on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

She was born on a quiet spring day. I remember smelling fresh cut grass as I walked up to the Birth Center in Bloomington. Her mother, Amber, & I had been in contact for months now & it seemed too good to be true that TODAY a sister was going to be born to three adoring big brothers. It’s been a whole year since her birth but I remember many details about her birth.

I remember I was selfishly excited because I was pregnant myself & knew I was about to witness the birth of my next child’s either future bestie or wife 😉 (I gave birth to our Ruth exactly 10 days later so the bestie mode is in full swing with our girls!)

I remember how calm Amber was when I walked in.

I remember how the midwives at the Birth Center took SUCH great care of her, Kyle (Amber’s husband) & baby Blythe.

I remember the worship music playing in the room.

The sound of water filling the birth tub that Blythe was born in.

I remember the laughter.

I remember how safe, clean & prepared the room felt.

I remember the peace I felt.

The moments ticking by & the waiting that just drew us all closer to something wonderful.

I remember the excitement that came with pain.

I remember the unmistakable knowledge that life as it was for the LaBerge family was about to change & they were on the brink of that transformative moment.

I remember watching the soft, encouraging touches between a husband to his wife.

I remember the cries that “She’s coming!” filling the room.

I remember watching Amber catch her first daughter & how my own tears couldn’t help but fall at that powerful moment.

And now, friend I invite you to come remember…to have a visual view reminiscing on the birth story of Blythe Adele.

Happy One Year Birth Day sweet girl!

I am now offering Birth Photography as a service! Please read more HERE on this service & how I’m gifting for a limited time Fresh 48 Sessions to any Birth Session I book!

Why Birth Photography?

I’m getting emotional just thinking about all the reasons why I want to do birth photography.

I love people. I firmly believe that EACH person has a purpose. That’s why we’re here. We ALL have a purpose.

My first birth I photographed, I remember the excitement growing in my heart as I was waiting for the go-ahead to come photograph his birth from his mom. It was this tangible excitement. Adrenaline was flowing through me & I couldn’t think about anything else but his arrival or his mom. I remember asking myself WHY. Why was this SOOO different then anything else I had ever photographed. I’ve photographed some amazing things including two weddings. But let’s be honest, a birth is QUITE spectacular. There’s just NOTHING like it. I KNEW that this was unlike anything else, but I wanted to know WHY.

My answer hit my heart so quick, I knew it was from the Lord, & again, I’ve got tears threatening to brim over & down my face as I try to convey my heart! “HE HAS A PURPOSE. I’ve got something planned for him.” That’s what I heard in my heart. I knew it was from the Lord. I remember getting out of the car & running into the hospital. My heart pumping, my smile as big as it could get. You’d have thought this baby coming was my own! But the joy in my heart & the joy I felt in that hospital room as he made his arrival was knowing the reason he was here was that he had a purpose. And he had arrived to fulfill it.

After documenting his birth, I was hooked. The joy. The pain. The newness of a life all in one space, all in front of me. It was the honor of a lifetime to be there & save it forever for his mom, his dad to look back on & one day share with him.

Since then birth has become a big part of my life as I’ve had my own two baby girls & photographed more babies & another birth. I want to be that person. That person in the room when the baby arrives & documents it all. That person that is softly praying & encouraging the momma. Watching for the beautiful details to unfold & capturing them to be remembered forever. For the momma to look back on & see those moments when she wondered if she could keep going. And then to see the moment when she realizes it’s all worth it

I know this post is about birth photography, but let me take this moment to say, my friend, you have a purpose. It started the day you were conceived & continued on strong the moment you were born.

I have needed to wait for just the right timing to offer birth as a regular photography service, but thanks to a team of people & a couple small life changes, the time is NOW!!!

Will you do me a favor? Help me get the word out!!! If you have a friend, a cousin, a neighbor, a co-worker who’s expecting, will you connect us?
