Amelia | Senior Session Class of 2020

Amelia & I had never met but her mom & had a phone date before her session to talk over things & I knew we all were going to click & have a great time with Amelia’s pictures- & we did!!! Amelia comes from a large family & so we got to talk about that which is fun since I grew up with 3 other siblings & we connected on having worked for the same restaurant 😉 Amelia was super calm & I loved her giggle & easy going personality. I felt like we’d all known each other then so much longer then just the time we had together at the session!

Amelia, I’m sure this school year is not ending as you wanted it but, I know you’ll come out of this season stronger & ready for what your future holds. I hope the best for you & know you’ll shine during this time! Hugs girl!!!

Erin | Senior Session

Erin goes to my church & I’ve watched her for the past few years as she’s grown from young girl at church & into a beautiful young woman. When Erin’s mom contacted me about doing Erin’s senior pictures last year I was SUPER excited! Ask anyone who knows Erin & they’ll tell you that she’s got a servant’s heart, enjoys doing all kinds of things & likes to laugh 😉 We laughed a lot during her senior session! Partly because it was FREEZING! But man, the gold in the trees was SO worth it & Erin looked BEAUTIFUL! I wanted to wear her dress myself & LOVED her fun scarf in her second outfit. Here are some of my favorite’s from our time together!

My personal favorite picture!

She loves to laugh but I love this quiet one of her SO much!

Oh Erin, I can’t believe you’re graduating THIS May! I’m so excited for you & this new season of life you’re walking into. Never forget what the Lord has done for you & continue to trust in Him. He has your best in mind. Love ya girl!

Zack | Class of 2017 Senior Session

Meet Zack 🙂 Class of 2017 & someone I’ve watched over the past 8 1/2 years become the amazing young man he is. Zack’s passion is music & he’s super involved with playing his guitar at our church, on the adult & youth worship teams. He’s competed in the Fine Arts Festival program & is pretty excited about being Snoopy in Calvary’s “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”. He’s a busy guy & that’s just the few of the many things I know he does!

I was so excited about incorporating Zack’s love of music in his session. The urban setting we chose fit so perfectly for this part of the shoot!

Walking around Uptown Normal, Zack & I talked about his upcoming senior trip to Florida that he’s pretty excited, play practice & how cold it was outside 😉

I remember watching Zack in Junior High youth group when I was a youth leader & now I get to see him use his talents on Sunday mornings as he leads our church family in worship. Crazy how time has flown 🙂

This is one of my personal favorites!

Favorite right here!

Zack, I’m so proud of you. You’ve made choices that honored the Lord & I know He’s leading you in the steps you take & the decisions you make. You are loved by so many & we’re ALL so excited to see where the years & roads take you on. Just keep your eyes on our Savior & you’ll always hear His voice.

Nomi Photography Senior Experience

It’s a special in your life. Just a few more months to go & you’ll be graduating from high school & moving on into what the future has for you.

So your mom says it’s time to think about senior pictures. It’s time to decide who you’ll choose to photograph you, what to wear & all that jazz.

Now imagine me (Hello!) waving BOTH my arms up in the air & waving “OOoooooo! Pick me, PICK ME!!!” Yes! Now that I have your attention 😉 Let me share WHY I love doing senior pictures & how I go about it.

You, me & a parent/guardian will meet up. Just for a half hour maybe & chat. I’ll probably say a few corny jokes, show you a million pictures of my adorable daughter & we’ll get to know each other 🙂 I’ll want to hear about YOU. Your passions, what you love to do, what you don’t love to do. What things describe YOU & what would really say “THIS IS YOU” within a photo.

Why? Because I believe that YOUR senior pictures should be you. Not funny awkward poses that make it look like you’re all bent in weird contortions. Not using the same locations that a hundred other seniors have used. I want to capture YOU. And where YOU love to hangout & just be.

Do you love horses? Great! Let’s work that out. Do you have a pet you’d like in your photo’s? Bring them! (I’m a little scared of snakes though! 😉 ) Are you a huge fan of Starbucks? Ummm, we can TOTALLY work that in your session! Play an instrument? Love Tae-Kwon-Do? ALL of these things (except the snake 😉 ) I’ve made happen because a senior I’ve photographed has wanted to bring it into their session because it was THEM.

Why do I do this? Well, to quote Dr. Seuss…

Let’s take photographs you’ll love for forever. Photographs that look like YOU & are YOU. And you know what? I can promise you, no one else will have photos like you because, “there is no one alive who is youer than you!” Email me at naomi@nomi-photography.com for more details, any questions & we will begin the Nomi Photography Senior Experience!!! (If you’d like to view senior sessions I’ve done before, just use the search bar on the right side of my blog here & type the word “senior” to view them!)

Really? I mean, really Waverly? Do you not know how BEAUTIFUL you are? Seriously friends. I know I shared with my first preview of this young lady that this lady shines not only from the outside but the inside as well & it’s SO true.

I feel like it was not long ago that Waverly was just coming into Junior High & I was a youth leader at youth group at our church. I watched her & loved her spunk, smile & how she would also get quiet & observe things. Now as a senior, Waverly is a busy girl! She plans on going into nursing & is already pursuing that by being at the hospital several days a week. She has a part time job, is involved in many activities including volunteering at church in nursery & basically whatever else we can get her to say yet too 😉 Because she’s just that AH-MAZING. She serves with her whole heart. And I LOVE talking to her! When you talk to her, she listens with her whole self. You feel special when you’re around Waverly Adams.

A butterfly was flying around us & we got it to go on the sunflowers!!!!!!!!! So YES this butterfly IS real & not a prop & YES that excited face of Waverly’s is completely genuine 😉

Waverly, I just had too much fun with you. I wish we could do senior pictures together every weekend 😉

David | High School Graduate Session

I love my brother David.

Some of you may not know, but I am the oldest in my family & I have 3 other siblings. A sister & two younger brothers.

I’ve shared this story with people before but never written about it. One time when my sister & I were very young (aka no little brothers were in sight) we were playing at a playground. There were two little boys that were brothers that showed up to play too. My sister & I had such a blast with them. I remember enjoying myself so much that during the midst of our adventures on the swings & laughs on the slide, I prayed & asked the Lord for two brothers just like them. I didn’t just want one, but two. TWO brothers.

Years later, the Lord answered my childlike prayer. I can still remember that day at the playground clear as day. And I’m very, VERY thankful that the Lord didn’t give me just one brother, but TWO.

My brother David is awesome. He’s my grocery shopping buddy- every two weeks he joins me in picking up everything on my grocery list & we have a brother/sister date. He’s very good with little kids. He’s musically talented in so many ways. Rap & singing solo’s. He makes the best hot chai tea ever. My parents dog & my sister’s dog love him. He’s got a mind for business & could probably run Apple himself. He writes awesome poems. He’s very discerning & can tell when someone’s feelings are hurt or is being left out. He’s very helpful. He’s funny. Actually, he can be pretty hilarious.

I love you David. I prayed for you years ago & I’m so thankful the Lord answered my prayer by giving our family you. You’re talented. You’re smart. And you care about people. I’m thankful you’re my brother.

PS This was one of the very last picture we took & it’s my very favorite.

Leah | College Graduate Session

My sister is so beautiful. It was a joy to be able to spend time with her on her 25th birthday last month & capture some fun portraits of her. Other then my husband, my sister is truly my best friend. We have tons of inside jokes & quote old black & white movies that no one else has even heard of. (Although she often trumps me by quoting a movie line & saying, “What’s that from?” & I can’t remember.) Leah’s hilarious & is often cracking me up through-out the day with texts full of her wit.

Leah is also a very wise woman. And smart. This next month, Leah will be graduating from Illinois State University, magna cum laude with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.

We spend some time in my parents neighborhood for awhile at the beginning of her session. Leah thought of having her morkie dog, Lucy, for part of the session & I thought it was a great idea!

Lucy looking up at her momma 🙂

If you’ve been to my parents house & met Lucy, I’m sure you’ll agree with everyone else that she’s a sweetie. Because everyone loves Lucy 🙂

I could have posted TONS images from just this portion of the session. My sister is SO beautiful.

I love you Leah! You’re not just my sister, but my best friend 🙂 I know you are my little sister, but in so many ways I look up to you. This has been a hard year for you & I’ve seen you to continue to grow & blossom instead of shrink & wither. You pressed on. Through these past years at Heartland & at ISU, you pressed on. I’m so PROUD of you. I could never have done what you’ve accomplished. You’ve let the Lord guide your dreams & take you down the journey He has for you. The best is yet to come. And I promise, I will be the LOUDEST person at the Redbird Arena on the ISU campus come December 13 next month when you walk. I will be smiling, crying (as I am now 😉 ) & yelling, “THAT’S MY SISTER!”

I love you Eah.

Chloe | High School Senior Graduate

I met Chloe through her older sister Heidi (who I’ve had the pleasure of photographing her family several times!). We scheduled a Skype date a few weeks before her session & discussed her Senior Session. I immediately liked Chloe. She has gorgeous curly hair that reminded me of mine. She loves Jesus & is practical & knows what she wants.

The evening of her session we had to work around rain, homecoming pictures being taken by other people 😉 & even a wedding! But through it all Chloe was a trooper. She was so easy to talk too. We talked about the app TimeHop, her job, music & tons of other stuff. I really didn’t want the evening to end!

Chloe also has a huge heart for missions. She’s been to Haiti twice & really loves the people their & that country. We used a globe to highlight that passion of hers in her session.

Chloe was so easy going & totally let me do some more “creative” stuff with her including hiding her face behind the globe!

Love these.

Chloe & her grandma share the same initials. The monogram on her pinky with their initials was something Chloe wanted highlighted at her session. The pearl ring was her grandma’s. I love it when clients bring things that are THEM & shows how unique they are!

Chloe, I was honored to spend time with you for your senior pictures. I know you’re going to continue to make a difference in the world. You’re an amazing girl. Beautiful inside & out.

Grace | High School Senior Graduate

For the past 6 years, I’ve watched this girl grow into a beautiful young woman who loves the Lord & has so much creativity, love & ideas flowing out of her! We had such a fun morning spending time in Uptown Normal & then going out to her parents home in the country & visiting two neighbors, one of which had a beautiful covered ivy barn & the other, a handsome horse named Seamus 🙂

Grace | High School Senior Graduate -29

Someone likes her Starbucks 😉 And I LOVED this flower wreath that Grace made HERSELF!

We were both in love with the ivy that crept all around the barn on her neighbor’s property.
