Lockwood | life&love Newborn Session

A couple months ago, I had a special maternity session with Teresa & Mark Lockwood (view it HERE). They were still several weeks away from meeting & holding their first child, beautiful Jordan.

Jordan Rose arrived June 30 at 5:34PM into the loving arms of her mommy & daddy. Today I’m sharing a peak into a little bit of time I spend with the threesome that now make up the Lockwood Family. What an honor to be welcomed into their home!

If you know Teresa, you know how much she LOVES Disney- the music, movies, the theme park, just all of it! I wanted to find a Disney song to weave through-out the blog post. I searched, thought & then came upon “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Phil Collins from Tarzan. I feel like it fits these sweet images just perfectly!!!

Dawson | Family Group Session

“Family, like branches in a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.”

I posted the above quote with the first preview of the Dawson Family that I posted on facebook last week. I truly believe this quote fits their family so well. As Rachel, Becca, Andrew & Amber have grown up as siblings under the Godly & strong examples of their parents, they now are raising their own families spread across 3 different states & not to mention several time zones 😉

Each of the Dawson “kids” have their own little families now. I know from personal experience & observance that they are raising their families to follow & serve the Lord. Just as their mom & dad would want.

Being a part of this group family session was almost like being with my own family. Over the past 7 years, my sister & I have grown close to Rachel & Amber & then of course it helped when Amber married my husband’s childhood friend 😉 We’ve been to a wedding, family birthday parties & outings with members of the Dawson clan. My own cousins & other relatives live hundreds of miles away so to be included in special moments like these are TRULY special to me.

The Dawson clan gathered together from all 3 states to celebrate the Fourth of July together & spend lots of time together. Amber & I had been discussing their session for months on hand before & we had the perfect weather for it! A special thanks goes out to my husband who joined me & assisted!

Family Experience Giveaway WINNER!!!

McMichael | Family Session

Steve, Jennifer & Leah were several years back “models” for me 🙂 I was just beginning to branch out & photograph other people then just family & close friends. I reached out to the McMichael’s one day & asked if they’d be willing to let me use them as guinea pigs before they left for their new home in Morocco (yes the country!) & Leah left for Wheaton College. I was so glad they agreed & said yes!

Well fast forward about 3 years ago (I think that’s what we figured out it was!) & the three of them are together a little this summer while Steve & Jennifer are visiting family & friends & taking care of various things. And at the same time spending as much time as possible with their beautiful daughter Leah who has a few weeks off before her internship starts. (Which if I have my timing correct, at the time of posting this, she has already started her internship!)

I love the McMichael Family. They are true, loving, giving, caring people. My heart was so lifted & encouraged after my time together with them just a few weeks ago. I’m only around them a few times every couple of years but it’s always a joy when I am able to be around them.

I really want you to just soak in the love, happiness, laughter & JOY in the faces of this special family as you look through these pictures. It’s not very hard to see 😉 Their faces radiate it!

We had their session at a favorite, quiet place in Bloomington-Normal. I loved it!!! It was like we had left the city & had been transferred to a little sanctuary.

Leah is a lovely woman. She just recently got this awesome bike! And I thought it was perfectly fitting that we got a few pictures of her with it! I know she’s going to love riding it around the campus of Wheaton College.

I’ll say it again, she’s LOVELY.

Steve, Jennifer & Leah, I’m so glad it worked out for us to another session. Eric & I are praying for all the adventures that are coming your way. Love you three & we’ll have to do this again sometime 😉

Lockwood | Maternity Session

Teresa & I have been friends, goodness, 6 years now? I think so! We’ve had a lot of fun memories shared together including getting married just 6 days a part from each other!

Teresa & Mark will be welcoming their first child (a daughter!!!) in just a few weeks. I’ve seen the special room they are preparing for her & this little princess is going to be loved & spoiled! In a good way! 🙂 I’m VERY much looking forward to meeting their daughter & photographing her within the first few days on her life. Be looking for those images in the coming weeks!

One of the things I’m slowing changing about my maternity sessions is to incorporate the husband more. A baby doesn’t just get here because of the momma 😉 When a couple welcome their first child, they are also saying goodbye to the season of it being just the two of them. Teresa had the idea of having their session at State Farm Park since it’s a location the couple goes to often & I thought it was a perfectly fitting way to portray this special couple & the new season of life they are entering. And let me just say, Mark is a wonderful & strong man. He is just what Teresa needs in a man & he’s going to be the best father for their family. I can’t wait to see them become a family of THREE!!!

Teresa, you are a BEAUTIFUL woman & a GORGEOUS momma. You are the perfect mommy for your little girl. I pray that she has strength & love for the Lord that you do. And that just like I’ve seen you do, she will crawl into the Lord’s arms when times are hard & laugh when the joy in life is just bubbling over! I love you my friend!

Who makes you smile the most? Who did you call first when you heard the bad news? Who’s texts make you literally laugh out loud? Who is there to talk you into things & sometimes tell you to “stop it” & talk you out of other things?

Your Best Friend.

And, may I ask one more question? When was the last time you had a picture taken with her? A picture other then that duck face selfie 😉 When was the last time? When was the last time you & your bestie had some one on one time? When was the last time you two talked & reflected on the treasured friendship you share?

I’ve said it many times- I BELIEVE in relationships. That’s one of the core things Nomi Photography is based on. And one of the relationship opportunities I hope every girl, every woman will have in life- is a true friend. Or two. Or three. True, blue, is there for you, prays for you, listens to you- Best Friend.

That’s why, once again, I am offering for one Saturday out of the year only, Best Friend Mini Sessions!

This mini session will be a short photography session on Saturday, June 27, where you & your bestie (or several of your girlfriends) can come, relax, laugh & reflect on what you have all been through together. This 20 minute photo session will take place at an outdoor location in Bloomington-Normal & is $60.00 for 2-3 best friends (additional friends after 3, may be added at $10.00 a piece). You will receive a 10-15 images and a wonderful memory to share! All images will be delivered within 3 weeks of the session via a link to an online gallery where they can be downloaded & printed where you choose. Print Release is also included. Barker | life&love Newborn Session

I think the closer I am to someone, the harder it is to write a blog post 😉 Hah It still floors me when friends ask me do a photo session with them. I don’t take it lightly & I feel that I’ve been entrusted with a very special opportunity.

The Barker Family holds a special place in me & my husband’s heart (& many others I might add). My parents & my siblings & I moved here almost 7 years ago. It wasn’t long after that, that I became involved with being a youth leader at First Assembly of God. Kermit & Nikki were the youth pastors & they both welcomed me & I soon realized how much I liked them, like really liked them. I respected them & wanted to help out in any way I could. They gave their time & love to people & that is a rare find. Months & years passed & as Eric & I walked walked into the season of dating & marriage, Kermit & Nikki were right there for us. More years have passed & we’ve been able to watch as Kermit & Nikki have welcomed not just one, but now TWO beautiful girls into their home. (I am seriously breathing deep to stop the tears right now 😉 ). Hadley is a special little girl to Eric & I & now Eliott Nicole has stolen a piece of our hearts. She is already a big part in so many’s lives & I CANNOT. WAIT. to watch her grow into the girl the Lord wants her to be.

I hope you see the joy & the faithfulness of the Lord in these photo’s. I hope Eliott’s little self just makes you want to squeeze all the babies 😉 And that as you look over these images, you will also rejoice with the Barker Family & ALL that the Lord has done for them.
