New Policies for 2018

Hi friends!

We are already 3 months into the year & I’m looking forward to all the sessions that are happening in 2018! Each year as Nomi Photography grows & I meet new clients & reconnect with clients that have become friends, I’m just truly thankful for this part of my life the Lord has blessed me with. As seasons have changed for me as a person (becoming a wife, becoming a mom to one & now Little Wilcox #2 is on the way!) Nomi Photography has been there & changed with me. It’s also been a blessing to have a creative outlet & financial help as I am a mom to almost two & nanny a few days a week as well. For those of you who are new to Nomi Photography or have been with me from the beginning THANK YOU for being a part of this journey!

So YES! If you haven’t heard, we are expecting our second child mid-May! You can read all the details HERE. As life transitions for us, there’s a few policy changes I’m making to Nomi Photography:

1) I no longer will be traveling for sessions outside the 15 mile radius of Bloomington-Normal UNLESS it’s a Newborn Session. There are many, MANY great locations to use for sessions in the BloNo area. I promise we will work together to find the best local location that fits YOU & your family!

2) There is now a $20.00 fee to have a gallery reloaded if a client requests for it to be resent after it has expired. With 2 little ones soon in my arms, time is money! Whenever I finish a gallery & send it to a client, I allow at least 30 days for you (sometimes even more!) to download & save the images for your records. If the session gallery expires & I’m asked to reload the gallery, the fee must be paid before the gallery is reloaded.

3) Family Mini Sessions are now 30 minutes in length instead of 20 minutes. I’m super excited about this & can’t wait for my first Family Mini’s at the end of this summer! Here’s the full list of the mini photography sessions I’m offering this year.

4) I don’t schedule sessions on Sundays. This isn’t really a policy change as that I’ve had this policy ever since I started my business! Hah! But I wanted to get it in writing so clients are aware of it. I use Sundays as my “Rain Day” for sessions that happen earlier in the week in CASE we would need to reschedule & have it on the Sunday following their session. I go over all this with my clients one on one but I thought I should put it here! This allows me to keep Sunday as my family day since I’m often working Saturdays & then Sunday is the only day our family can be together uninterrupted!

These aren’t policy changes but here are two things to note:
1) My 2018 Prices are now on my website over on my INVESTMENT page.

2) THIS blog post has all the details regarding my Maternity Leave for Little Wilcox #2 🙂

Erin | Senior Session

Erin goes to my church & I’ve watched her for the past few years as she’s grown from young girl at church & into a beautiful young woman. When Erin’s mom contacted me about doing Erin’s senior pictures last year I was SUPER excited! Ask anyone who knows Erin & they’ll tell you that she’s got a servant’s heart, enjoys doing all kinds of things & likes to laugh 😉 We laughed a lot during her senior session! Partly because it was FREEZING! But man, the gold in the trees was SO worth it & Erin looked BEAUTIFUL! I wanted to wear her dress myself & LOVED her fun scarf in her second outfit. Here are some of my favorite’s from our time together!

My personal favorite picture!

She loves to laugh but I love this quiet one of her SO much!

Oh Erin, I can’t believe you’re graduating THIS May! I’m so excited for you & this new season of life you’re walking into. Never forget what the Lord has done for you & continue to trust in Him. He has your best in mind. Love ya girl!

Fall 2017 Mini’s Recap!

Oh fall you’re my favorite time of year! And pretty much everyone else who loves having photos taken!!! Here’s a few of my favorite images from this past fall’s mini sessions! Thankful to have such amazing clients!!! Elizabeth is Two!

Our Elizabeth turned 2 on December 19, 2017. While I’m still pinching myself that we even HAVE  a little girl, the fact that she is now 2 AND going to be a big sister is crazy wonderful! I’ve blogged over time different milestones of her as she’s grown (just search Elizabeth in my search area on the far right & you’ll see all the posts I’ve done of her) & this one is a fun one!

She gave me a run for my money with these pictures 😉 But in her defense it WAS a bit chilly outside & I know more then anything she was just excited to be with momma & dada 🙂 Even though it was super hard to get her to stand let alone sit still, I love so many of these photos! Thank you Lord for our little girl Elizabeth!

You can just see the mischievousness all over her face!!!!!

She was looking for rooster she kept hearing crow! Oh & her dress & leggings are all from Old Navy!

Running from momma again 😉

Even though this next picture is completely out of focus, I love how it captures her beautiful neck & those curls!!!! Oh & that she’s holding her dada’s hand here just makes my heart melt a second & third time.

Momma & Dada love you Elizabeth!!!

Elizabeth is 13-24 Months!

Something I did last year that turned into a precious thing was to take a photo of Elizabeth on her “monthly birthday” each month. When I looked back at her monthly photos from being a newborn & on to 12 months, what I LOVED was seeing her facial features change. I could look from month to month & see her look more like her dada in some months, more like me or just more of her own little person & personality.

Knowing how precious those photos from 0-12 months became to us as a family, inspired me to do something along the same lines, but simpler for her months leading up to 2 years. I knew again that what I wanted to focus on was her changing face. My goal was to get one good photo of her smiling face every month on or right by the 19th of each month. I didn’t always have good lighting & I didn’t always get to take RIGHT on the 19th (for most months I did though!) But I loved the challenge & simplicity of this project. Capturing my girl at that time of her life each month was truly fun.

I did plan on taking just one photo of Elizabeth each month starting at 13 months, buttttttt I kind of ended up taking way more each time 😉 For this blogpost though, I wanted to keep it simple & just post the big smile photo I had intended to get. Next time you come to my house though, you can see the Shutterfly book I put together of them all 😉

My best tip for anyone else wanting to do a photo project similar to this is to set a reminder on your phone a few days before you need to take the picture/s. This will help prepare you mentally for it & remind you to have your camera charged & ready to go! I also would remind myself to make sure I dressed her in a certain outfit for that day if there was a particular favorite that fit her at the time.

Honestly, looking back, in some ways these photos are even MORE precious to me then the first year! I see her personality REALLY coming out in these photos. Whenever I look at them, they make me want to do something for 25 months & on! But I know that with a newborn coming sometime in May, it probably wouldn’t be the best idea to commit to “two” photoshoots every month 😉 I do plan on taking photos of her at the half year mark. And hey, may this year I’ll do like every 3 months with her or something. We’ll see 🙂

Here’s our Elizabeth’s second year!

13 Months

14 Months – She was JUST starting to walk here! 15 Months – Look at those tooties in her mouth!!! 16 Months 17 Months – This photo was taken right on May 19 when she spent her first night overnight at Grandma & Grandpa Close’s! 18 Months – I actually blogged more of Elizabeth’s 18 Month session over HERE with a few tips on how to take photos of her your own kids 🙂 19 Months – We had just moved into our new house so this photo has that extra specialness to me because of that! 20 Months – I took this photo outside of her Great Grandma’s house in Minnesota! 21 Months 22 Months – I wish I could blog all the pictures from this month because I LOVE them all! 23 Months24 Months – And we’re at the 2 year mark!!! Look at my precious big girl! (There’s more of her 2 year photos HERE if you’d like to see more!)

Friends, thanks for coming along for this quick ride down memory lane! I love this girl & I love these photos!

Photos MEAN SO MUCH! I’d love to capture your kiddos & your entire family! Email me at naomi@nomi-photography.com & we’ll get you on my calendar for a photography session in 2018!!!

We’re Expecting Little Wilcox #2!

We announced to our family & close friends this past fall the news that Little Wilcox #2 is on the way! Come May! And yes I know that rhymes 😉

We are THRILLED & very much looking forward to this little one joining us sometime in May. Elizabeth LOVES babies (I can tell you a story about how even today she was wanting to kiss a stranger’s baby in Aldi 😉 haha) & loves talking about our new baby & going to appointments to see “pictures of the baby” aka ultrasounds 😉

We love telling people in person our special news versus social media & I’ve tried to tell as many of you in person as possible! But since the year is ending I knew I needed to finally blog about our news 🙂 I shared recently on Instagram my take on how everyone says being pregnant with the second is different. It is yes, but I have my own thoughts on why 🙂

I’ve been taking bi-weekly baby bump pictures same as I did with Elizabeth (I mean, who has time for weekly ones? 😉 ) & Elizabeth had to join in the photo 😉 She’s super excited to be a big sister!!!

As with Elizabeth, we are not finding out the gender & will wait to be surprised at the birth. It’s the surprise of a lifetime & even though it’s hard to wait, it’s worth it! You can take a guess though! 😉 If you ask Elizabeth if she thinks the baby is a “boy or a girl” she says “Boy” & then immediately following that question I’ll ask secondly, “Do you want a brother or a sister?” & to that she always responds with “Sister!” So who knows what the baby will be 😉

I am currently one day away from 19 weeks & finding it hard to believe that we are about halfway there! Technically with Elizabeth at this point we WERE over halfway there since she came early 🙂 Once I got past the first trimester nausea life was more manageable! There were a few of you who’s sessions I did in September & October that I was sneaking snacks & drinking ginger ale in my water bottle during your photo session to keep the nausea away! 😉

I plan to share in the future my maternity leave time & as always will blog about my mini sessions coming in 2018. They will be fewer this year with having a new baby in the house so keep your eyes on your emails & if you aren’t on my e-newsletter sign up!!! Click here to do so!

Lorelei Turn’s One!

This sweet girl. I remember finding out the Deal Family was expecting another little one. They already had an adorable little boy who I’d had the please of photographing in the beginning stages of my photography business. Braden is a sweetie & I was hoping a little sister would be given to him.

I know I’m not the only one who was hoping for a sister for him. When Ashley & I talked on the phone before Lorelei’s One Year Session, I smiled when she said, “I LOVE having a girl!” I know that feeling myself so well. It’s just so wonderful to have a little girl. Ashley went on to say “Even having matching mommy & daughter dresses is so fun.”

Lorelei is THE sweetest thing. She thoroughly enjoys the camera & I loved the time together I had with her & her mommy for her session.

Isn’t this dress just PERFECT?!

The details in her dress…..

Now I know what all you momma’s are wondering. Where did they get that ADORABLE sign? Well, Lorelei’s mom MADE that chalkboard sign. No joke! When I saw it, I joked with Ashley & said she’s going to be getting requests from people now that I’m putting this picture in my blog post!

Lorelei is a farm girl. Her family farms & she just looked TOO adorable in this romper & playing in the dirt. She’s a girly-girl but she knows how to play in the dirt!

Ashley brought along Lorelei’s cute little piggy that she used for taking Lorelei’s monthly photos with. I LOVE that idea! What a way to see everything come full circle 🙂

“I hope you love flowers & getting nails done.” Ashley said that about her sweet precious girl when we were talking about Lorelei & how crazy it is that she’s now 1! Sweet Lorelei, I hope that for you too! That you always love flowers, always love playing in the dirt & always stay as sweet as you are precious girl. Happy One Year Lorelei 🙂

Sam | Senior Session

I have two favorite things when it comes to Senior Sessions. One is that I get to really see their personalities & thoroughly enjoy hearing their current activities. Sometimes it’s hearing about their favorite movie or a recent family trip they took. Sometimes it’s their part time job or their favorite pet. The other thing is that I get to hear about their future goals. Whether it’s going to Heartland, going straight into a job or internship or competing at the next band competition, I LOVE hearing all about it.

And the same was with Sam’s session! He’s so talented, so kind & so thoughtful with the words that he says. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him. Each senior session, I always walk away wishing that it could have gone longer AND being so excited for that particular senior. And again, that happened with Sam.

I’m excited for what the Lord has for you Sam! I had fun hanging out with you & wish you the very best for your last few months of high school!

Back-to-School Mini Sessions 2017 Recap!

I love fall & the season of seeing kids Back-to-School pictures posted on facebook 🙂 I always find myself scrolling through all my friends kiddos school pics on their first date & smiling over the adorableness of their “first day of school” outfits & goodbye hugs. Several of my friends send their littles to Kindergarten this fall & I read their facebook posts & felt a small smidgen of their emotions in sending their young ones off.

When I started my photography business, I knew I wanted to reach out & make connections with homeschoolers. My husband & I were both homeschooled by our parents & we pray that is something we can do with our children. I wanted to give homeschoolers that opportunity to have “Back-to-School” pictures at an affordable price & thus Back2School Mini’s were born! This is my 3rd (or maybe my 4th!) year doing Back2School Mini’s & I’m just so thankful for the families I get to meet & work with & some of them I have worked with year after year!

I chose just a few highlights from all the Back2School Mini’s I had this year. Hard to pick just a few for a blogpost when I LOVE.THEM.ALL!!!!!! And if you’re wanting to be notified for when I do these next year, click this link to signup for my e-newsletter that I send out from time to time with news 🙂

Ok, enough chit-chat! Here’s a few favorites!!! To all my homeschooler families- you’re my hero’s & I’m SO thankful for you all!!! You’ve got this!

Pray for the Cure 2017

For the past 3 years now, I have had the honor of photographing the community event, Pray for the Cure that proceeds Race for the Cure. Each year has been unique & special in it’s own way. (You can view the past years here- 2015 & 2016.)

Pray for the Cure is a special prayer and music service dedicated to breast cancer survivors, their families, friends, and healthcare providers. As their facebook page states: “Pray for the Cure is sanctioned by Susan G. Komen for the Cure. While it is not a Race for the Cure event, it is meant to precede the Race as a spiritual and emotional care program. Pray for the Cure was first held in Peoria in 2004. The event began in Bloomington-Normal in 2011.”

From my past three years of experience with attending & being a part of P4TC, it is an evening of remembrance. An evening of hugs. An evening of reflecting on what is truly important in life. And an evening of looking to the One who leads us all day by day.

I’ve compiled a few of my favorites photographs from this years event at St. John’s Lutheran Church & am excited to share them.

My favorite part of the evening every year is when they ask those who are cancer survivors to stand.

I loved seeing collages of photos displayed from the past two years I’ve photographed P4TC.

The wonderful team of ladies who make this amazing event happen!
