Aly is super fun! This past fall we had a fun facetime date where we went over her session details & talked thru a few things. She had so many fun & creative ideas to add to her session- including her love for Starbucks, oh yeah! I also loved that she wanted to incorporate some pictures with her hearing aid, that was super special to capture & I’m so glad we did! About a week later after the facetime date (& yes, things can be organized that quick for a senior session!) we met up on the campus of ISU & then later hit a favorite nature center. Her sister came with & it was fun to laugh, run around the ISU campus & take photos & talk about Gilmore Girls & Starbucks!
Aly is a special girl as she is a volunteer in the nursery at our church & loved on our Elizabeth when she was there. I love how she will always chat & talk to Elizabeth when she sees her at church & still gives her attention.
Aly is very talented in many ways but I know her heart is set on Jesus, even in hard times. She has a loving & very supportive family & I’m excited what the Lord has for her! Pandemic or no pandemic the Lord will be with you Aly & provide for you!!!
Well here we are again! For the FIFTH YEAR it’s time for Back-to-School pictures for local homeschooling families! (Please note this is a service I offer ONLY to those who are homeschooling at least one child in their family.) This year is very special for me because we are just one year away from our eldest starting Kindergarten & I’m beyond excited to officially “join” 😉 the local homeschool community as a homeschooling family ourselves!
So what are Back-to-School Mini Sessions? Well here’s two links where I share the past two year Back-to-School mini session recaps (2018 & 2017) & you can see what types of images we’ll get & the fun we have 🙂 And then below are the details of where to signup & date & pricing info.
I wanted to ask for your help. Each year I have gotten a wonderful response from local families & thus have been able to continue to offer these mini sessions for so many years now. Will you help me continue to offer this special service? If you could share this blog post with your homeschooling friends thru email & or facebook that would help me out so much! This helps ensure that each mini session spot is taken & that I am able to continue offering this year after year. Now that I’m a mom of two & I also nanny two days a week, I have to be wise with my time & what things I offer thru my photography business. As long as I can keep booking these mini sessions every year, I will continue to offer them. So please share away after you get your own spot of course 😉 Thank you friends! I can’t do this without you! 😀
I am offering two types of packages for the Back-to-School Mini Sessions:
Back2School Minis will be held on August 16 (rain day will be Aug 17) & August 24 (rain day is Aug 25). Choose your spot HERE!
*Please Note* that if you’re signing your family up, please take TWO ten minute slots. If you’re signing up a student please take ONE ten minute slot per student. If you have any questions just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. To reserve your session on August 16 (Rain Day will be Aug 17) & August 24 (Rain Day is Aug 25) CLICK HERE. Every year of homeschooling is a milestone! And capturing your children & family at this time, is a joy of mine.

These sessions are in my opinion not suitable for seniors in high school. Feel free to ask me about my Senior Experience Package!
If you have any other questions about how a mini session with Naomi Elizabeth Photography is, please feel free to read THIS POST I wrote to answer questions.
It’s hard to believe that at the time these pictures were taken, SEVERAL of these families I’ve photographed for 5 years & some of the others 4! It was also having a few new homeschooling families!
Every year that I share a few favorite images from the Back-to-School Mini Sessions I like to share a bit of the story of why I even offer these. I was homeschooled all my life & so was my husband. It is our prayer & hope that we can homeschool our children as well. I’ve actually spent a bit of our summer researching & talking with other homeschool moms as we get closer & closer to when Elizabeth will be ready for Kindergarten!
I’m so thankful for the large homeschool community in Bloomington-Normal. I’ve lived in 7 different states & never experienced anything like the community that is here for homeschoolers. I love being to offer this service to the local homeschooling families & truly look forward to it every year! Here is a few of my favorites from our 2018 Back-to-School Mini Sessions!
This family. So much love for them. For so many reasons. This particular session we had weather AND sickness AND technical difficulties but we still got one of my favorite family photos ever to date! See if you can spot it- hint, there’s a black wall in the background of it 😉
This little guy was so precious & even smiling in his session! His mommy has wonderful taste when it comes to decor & I loved being in their sweet home! Also, this blog post contains one of my favorite daddy & newborn son pictures so make sure you scroll down for that one! 🙂
A special client referred the Mayes Family to me & I was SO excited about meeting them! We went to one of my favorite locations in town & it was a treat to be get some amazing pictures of this family 🙂 My particular favorites are the individual portraits of each of the children. The kids & I were having a blast & their personalities & joy just opened up in front of me & I loved documenting them! Here’s a few of my personal favorites from their session!
Naming our two girls took prayer & time. It’s a big deal to bestow a name on someone who will have it for their lifetime! Naming anything like a pet, business, a book, you name it (pun intended 😉 ) takes thought, prayer, time, & hopefully some soul searching of why the name works (or doesn’t).
Naming my business Nomi Photography when I launched the photography business in 2014 was a no brainer. My siblings when we were all young couldn’t say my name Naomi very clearly & instead “Nomi” came out. Nomi stuck & through the years some of my dear friends as well as my siblings still call me that to this day! Even the little ones I nanny called me Nomi! (I’ve actually met a few other Naomi’s in my life & have been told their loved ones called them Nomi too! How fun!)
A lot of things have changed in the past 5 years. I’ve got some gray hairs. I’ve become a mother of two girls. Learned that I can’t eat too much dairy in a day & that real plants aren’t my thing. Bought a house. Worked harder at actually finishing the books I buy 😉 I’m 33 & life looks a lot different for me now then it did 5 years ago. With photography, I’ve made some decisions on what I choose to shoot & what I don’t. I’m not a wedding photographer. I’m not a studio photographer. I am a birth & family photographer!
All of that took time & maturity. Later in the coming weeks I plan to share 5 specific things I’ve learned in 5 years of business. But the bottom line from what I’ve found, with owning a business is if you want to take care of your clients & treat them like your own family (which is what I strive for) you have to change. You have to prune & grow. And mature.
Changing from Nomi Photography to Naomi Elizabeth Photography is an outward sign of the inward pruning, growth & maturity I’ve had in the past 5 years of business. I’ve learned soooooo many things & have changed for the better as a photographer & business owner & I want to make an outward reflection of that.
It is always my prayer to keep getting better in how I service my clients & the quality of photos I give. That is not going to change. My word for Naomi Elizabeth Photography for 2019 is “connection”. I want to connect with my clients in a deeper & more helpful way. Thus the recent Facebook Lives, the announcement of Birth Photography. Some of my policy changes for this year. The name change.
What can you expect with this change? I’ve got a new beautiful logo, a new website address: www.naomielizabethphotography.com. You’ll all need to start getting used to seeing Naomi Elizabeth Photography instead Nomi Photography! I will have a new email address & will be sharing that soon. I am working to get my facebook page name changed as well. Hopefully that goes well because I’ve heard it can take quite a bit of time!
But I’m excited & SO ready for this! Nomi Photography has matured for the better & Naomi Elizabeth Photography is the perfect way to reflect & share that change!
Friends, thank you for being here. For taking the time to read this. For supporting me & my family. Naomi Elizabeth Photography wouldn’t be what is now without you 😊 May is a big month & I plan to celebrate 5 years in several different ways! Stay tuned!
PS If you’re wondering, yes! Naomi Elizabeth is my first & middle name! And we did name our eldest Elizabeth so we could share names! 😉
