Nolan Turns One!

September of 2014 I was able to travel to St. Charles & meet up with two different families that I knew from Columbia, MO. One of the two was my longtime friend Brooke & her husband. I blogged their anniversary session that we had & spoke about two special phone calls we had shared (view it HERE). Well, I can now add another “special phone call” to that list as well. Brooke called me last year & told me that her & Nic were expecting!!!!!! We were actually pregnant at the same time for several months & then little Nolan made his appearance in August of 2015.

And now he’s turning ONE!!!!

Just a few weeks ago on Eric, Elizabeth & I’s way to our family vacation location, we stopped in Columbia, Missouri & got to spend some with with precious Nolan & his parents. It was actually my first time meeting him! Since Elizabeth was with us, both Brooke & I’s baby’s got to meet each other (go to the end of this post to see that pic)!!! Such a sweet time that I wish could have lasted longer!!!

So Nolan’s balloon popped at the very end of our time together! I actually was totally surprised by it & squealed at the noise! Nolan? He took it all in stride! This was his face after!!! It was like he was saying “What was that? Where’d my balloon go? And why are you screaming like a little girl?” hahaha

Brooke, I love you!!! We don’t get to talk as much as I would like to, but I am SOOO proud of the mommy you are!!! You & Nic are raising a fine, young man. Keep at it!!!!!! He’s going to be a such a sweetheart & I pray a man that loves the Lord!!!

Violet Turns One!

When my friend Lynne told me that she wanted to have her baby girl’s One Year Session in the comfort of their little home, I just smiled happily to myself & my heart just felt so full. The idea of taking pictures of her little Violet in the home she’s being raised in along with her brother & sister just seemed so perfect to me. The home where she’s taken her first steps, the bedroom where she lays her head to rest every night & the yard with all her favorite things that she’s now beginning to climb…so.sticken.special. I mean really, what could be better then that?

Can you tell I just loved the idea?

So one night I arrived at the Norris household & spent time with their family of 5. Our focus was of course the birthday girl Miss Violet, but I also loved capturing her involvement with her siblings & parents. It was a family affair trying to get Violet’s attention & photographing the things she likes to do, like jumping on big brother’s bed 😉

I always enjoy my time with the Norris family! The last time I was there, Violet was still in mommy’s tummy! (Click HERE for the last session I had with them.) They’re a fun 5 & probably are just as loud & fun as my family was when I was growing up 🙂 Made me feel right at home.

Sessions | Mini Session

I met the Session Family just one year ago! They had recently bought a lovely new home with the help of Leah Bond (aka best realtor ever 😉 ) & I had gone over to take a few photos of them in their new house! Karen is just seriously, like seriously, one of the most nicest people I’ve ever “met” thru email & she’s even nicer in person! We really hit if off after I met her & her husband & 3 handsome young fellas last year. Then Karen emailed me right before my maternity leave & said they wanted new pictures once I was back! So just a few weeks ago we got to have a mini session! Here’s some of my favorite images from it!

Roberson | Newborn Session

Leah & Jonathan have become special people to me. I met them back when I first photographed their One Year Anniversary back in early 2015. Then this past fall Leah & I started conversing about doing a group family session with Jonathan’s side. She also shared (to a very pregnant me!) that they were hopefully going to very soon announce that a Little Roberson would be on the way. So I guess you could say I’ve been looking forward to this session for a looonnngggg time!

It also was a super special session for me because it was my first Newborn Session after being back from my maternity leave & having Elizabeth. Someday I’ll write an entire blogpost about it, but I truly see photography & approach my photography in a totally different way then I did before she was born. I knew that would happen, but I don’t think I understood how deeply it would change me photography wise.

These pictures are special to me (I keep saying special but they just are!). Jonathan & Leah are an amazing couple who have dedicated their lives to seeing others lives changed. And now I’ve been able to watch them become parents & see THEIR lives changed. And for the better 😉

Eliott Turns One!

Baby Girl Eliott, where has the time gone? It was just yesterday that we took your Newborn Pictures & then it was just a few days after that I feel that we did your 6 Month pictures & took some pictures with your mommy & daddy & big sister. Now you’re turning one next weekend & I feel like I just blinked & you grew up.

At your newborn session, I had horrible morning sickness (no one knew we were pregnant with Elizabeth yet!) & just today I was holding our Elizabeth Leah & you were being all sweet & gentle & playing nicely with her. I pray you Eliott & my Elizabeth are friends in the making. The Wilcox Family loves you sweet girl. I love your smile, your BIG beautiful eyes & your sweetness.

The location we went to for Eliott’s One Year Session is a new favorite of mine. I totally did not plan that there would be so many beautiful purple spring trees & that Eliott would be wearing a purple dress! I love how the purple flowers through her session just made her little outfits pop! The flowers make special appearances in so many of her photo’s!

Here’s the details!

Saturday, June 11
If for some reason there is bad weather, we will have your session you signed up for on Sunday, June 12 at the same time you signed up for on June 11.
Families with up to 6 members ($10.00 per additional family member after 6 members) is $100.00
Siblings with up to 4 members are $75.00 ($10.00 per additional sibling after 4 siblings)
Location is Fairview Park in Normal
Family sessions will receive a total of 15-20 images. Sibling sessions will receive 10-15.
All images will be delivered within 3 weeks of the session via a link to an online gallery where they can be downloaded & printed wherever you choose.
Print Release is included.
This session does not allow for outfit changes.

Waverly | Senior Session

Really? I mean, really Waverly? Do you not know how BEAUTIFUL you are? Seriously friends. I know I shared with my first preview of this young lady that this lady shines not only from the outside but the inside as well & it’s SO true.

I feel like it was not long ago that Waverly was just coming into Junior High & I was a youth leader at youth group at our church. I watched her & loved her spunk, smile & how she would also get quiet & observe things. Now as a senior, Waverly is a busy girl! She plans on going into nursing & is already pursuing that by being at the hospital several days a week. She has a part time job, is involved in many activities including volunteering at church in nursery & basically whatever else we can get her to say yet too 😉 Because she’s just that AH-MAZING. She serves with her whole heart. And I LOVE talking to her! When you talk to her, she listens with her whole self. You feel special when you’re around Waverly Adams.

Waverly loves sunflowers. She brought a long a bouquet to her session & look what happened!

A butterfly was flying around us & we got it to go on the sunflowers!!!!!!!!! So YES this butterfly IS real & not a prop & YES that excited face of Waverly’s is completely genuine 😉

Waverly, I just had too much fun with you. I wish we could do senior pictures together every weekend 😉

And of course, we had to snap a few photo’s of her & her mom 🙂

Waverly, I’m so proud of you. Seriously. I love how you have grown & matured & the cool thing is, this is just the beginning. You are entering a new season & I for one will be watching & cheering you on. Keep shining for the Lord. He will make your paths straight. I’m a fan of you beautiful girl!!!!!

Lockwood | life&love Newborn Session

A couple months ago, I had a special maternity session with Teresa & Mark Lockwood (view it HERE). They were still several weeks away from meeting & holding their first child, beautiful Jordan.

Jordan Rose arrived June 30 at 5:34PM into the loving arms of her mommy & daddy. Today I’m sharing a peak into a little bit of time I spend with the threesome that now make up the Lockwood Family. What an honor to be welcomed into their home!

If you know Teresa, you know how much she LOVES Disney- the music, movies, the theme park, just all of it! I wanted to find a Disney song to weave through-out the blog post. I searched, thought & then came upon “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Phil Collins from Tarzan. I feel like it fits these sweet images just perfectly!!!

Favorite Images from 2014 | Part I

First of all choosing my personal favorite images from each session I had in 2014 (all 42 of them!) was WAY more difficult then I imagined it to be. Several of these families are very close friends & others became close friends! I didn’t realize how much of my heart was connected to each session. But as “hard” as it was for me, it was also a wonderful experience- to look back & remember all of these special moments that I got to be a part of with so many incredible people. I’m not just saying that to make you all feel good 😉 I am truly thankful & blessed to have worked with each person/family/couple I met in 2014. And let me just say, looking back has made me VERY EXCITED for 2015. EXTREMELY excited 🙂

So just a reminder, this blog is a mini series, which basically means I will be posting several blogs posts to hold ALL of the images. I can’t put all of them in one! I’m spreading them out into about 3 posts (so there’s about 2 more coming!). I’m also adding the photo’s in complete random order. So if you don’t see my personal favorite image from your session, don’t freak out! 🙂 It’s coming! Hopefully the suspense won’t kill you 😉

You may be wondering how I chose my personal favorites, but before I answer that question, remember it was EXTREMELY hard to me to pick my favorites!!! Basically all the sessions I had about 2-3 fav images per session. It was very hard to narrow them down. But the ones I chose, are those that have personally stayed in my mind, touched my heart & made me fall even more in love with photography & capturing the smiles of so many people. If you look at each picture, you’ll notice I didn’t always choose the “perfect picture that had the perfect lighting & perfectly centered pose”. I usually chose ones where there’s a true genuine smile on their face or a belly laugh about to happen, the mom glowing while looking at her husband, a daddy holding his daughter close or you can totally see true love & tenderness in the eyes of those in the picture….AHHH!!!!! Who’s ready to see some pictures??? 🙂
